And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

In the Book of Joshua, after the Israelites had successfully conquered much of the Promised Land, Joshua spoke to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh who had fulfilled their promise to help in the battles. These tribes lived on the east side of the Jordan River and were now being dismissed to return home. Joshua emphasized taking the spoils of war and sharing them with their fellow Israelites to promote unity and fairness among the nation.
