✦ SIMPLIFICADO

In the book of Joshua, after the Israelites had conquered much of the Promised Land, the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh returned to their allotted territory east of the Jordan River. They built a large altar there, which caused concern among the other tribes who feared it was an act of rebellion against God by creating a rival place of worship. The eastern tribes clarified that the altar was not intended for sacrifices but as a symbol of their shared faith and unity with the rest of Israel.
