If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isaiah was writing to the Jewish people during a time when they had returned from exile but were struggling with spiritual apathy and going through the motions of religious observance. The Sabbath had become just another day for many, rather than the sacred day of rest and worship God intended it to be.
