And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
In the 8th century BC, the prophet Isaiah was addressing the people of Judah during a time of moral and spiritual decline, as they faced threats from powerful empires like Assyria. He prophesied about God's judgment on their unfaithfulness, followed by a promise that a faithful remnant in Zion and Jerusalem would survive and be declared holy. This reflects the broader biblical theme of God's purification of His people through hardship, emphasizing His covenant loyalty.
