Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
During the time of Isaiah, the nation of Judah was under threat from the powerful Assyrian empire, which sought to conquer and dominate the region. Some Judean leaders believed they could protect themselves by forming an alliance with Egypt, relying on its superior military forces like horses and chariots for strength. However, Isaiah warned that this approach showed a lack of faith, urging them to seek help from God instead of foreign powers.
