During the time of the prophet Ezekiel, around the 6th century BC, the people of Judah were facing God's judgment for their widespread idolatry and rebellion against His commands. Ezekiel, who was in exile in Babylon, delivered this prophecy as part of a series warning that foreign invasions would lead to widespread death and destruction in the land.
