This verse comes as Moses is giving instructions for building the tabernacle, but he pauses to remind the Israelites about keeping the Sabbath. The Israelites had recently been freed from slavery in Egypt where they worked constantly without rest. God was establishing the Sabbath as both a gift of rest and a sign of their covenant relationship with Him.
