This verse is part of God's instructions to Moses about the Passover celebration, which commemorated Israel's deliverance from slavery in Egypt. The unleavened bread (bread without yeast) reminded them of their hasty departure from Egypt when they didn't have time to let their bread rise. This became an annual seven-day festival called the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
