This verse is part of God's detailed instructions to Moses for constructing the tabernacle and its furnishings while the Israelites were camped at Mount Sinai. The altar of incense was to be placed in the Holy Place, just outside the Most Holy Place, where priests would burn fragrant incense twice daily. A cubit was approximately 18 inches, making this a relatively small but sacred piece of furniture.
