And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.
In the 6th century BC, after the Persian king Cyrus conquered Babylon, he issued a decree allowing the Jewish exiles to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple, marking the end of their captivity. This verse is part of that decree, instructing people in the areas where the exiles resided to provide them with resources like silver, gold, goods, and animals to facilitate their journey and support the freewill offerings for the temple. It reflects the historical theme of divine restoration and international cooperation in God's plan for His people.
