The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
In ancient Israel, the tribe of Levi was specially chosen by God to serve as priests and handle the sacred duties of worship, setting them apart from the other tribes who received land as their inheritance. This meant the Levites were not allocated territory in the Promised Land, as God Himself was designated as their portion and provider. Instead, they sustained themselves through the offerings and sacrifices that the people brought to the Lord, ensuring they could focus entirely on spiritual leadership.
