This instruction was given to Aaron and the Levitical priests during Israel's time in the wilderness. The first fruits were the earliest and best crops that Israelites brought to God as offerings of gratitude and worship. Since the priests had no land inheritance of their own, God provided for them through portions of the sacrifices and offerings brought by the other tribes.
