And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
In the Book of Joshua, the Israelites were conquering the city of Jericho as part of their campaign to enter and settle the Promised Land, following God's commands after their exodus from Egypt. Rahab, a Canaanite woman who had previously hidden the Israelite spies and professed faith in their God, was promised protection in exchange for her help. After the walls of Jericho fell due to the Israelites' obedience, the spies entered the city to fulfill that promise by rescuing Rahab, her family, and their belongings, then placing them safely outside the Israelite camp to separate them from the ongoing judgment.
