✦ SIMPLIFICADO

In the 6th century BC, the prophet Jeremiah was speaking to the Jewish people during the aftermath of Babylon's destruction of Jerusalem, warning them that fleeing to Egypt for safety would not protect them from God's judgment. This verse is part of a prophecy where God declares that the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, would invade Egypt, destroying its temples and idols as a demonstration of His sovereignty over false gods. It reflects the historical reality of ancient Near Eastern conflicts, where empires like Babylon asserted dominance over nations like Egypt.
