This occurred during the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah around 605 BC, when the prophet Jeremiah had his scribe Baruch write down God's warnings on a scroll. When the scroll was read to the king, he cut it up and burned it piece by piece despite the pleas of some of his officials who recognized this was a dangerous act of defiance against God's word.
