This verse comes at the end of Jeremiah's prophetic dream about God's future restoration of Israel. Jeremiah had been given a vision of hope during one of Israel's darkest periods - the Babylonian exile. The 'sweet sleep' indicates that despite all the warnings of judgment Jeremiah had to deliver, this particular message of restoration brought him comfort and peace.
