And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
In the historical context, King Hezekiah of Judah had just recovered from a serious illness, prompting envoys from the rising Babylonian empire to visit and inquire about the miracle. Hezekiah, in a moment of pride, proudly displayed all his treasures, including silver, gold, and weapons, to these foreign visitors, which revealed the kingdom's wealth and vulnerabilities. This event is set against the backdrop of political tensions in the 8th century BC, where such displays could invite invasion and foreshadowed the eventual Babylonian exile of Judah as prophesied in the Bible.
