This occurs during Joseph's time as a high official in Egypt, after he had interpreted Pharaoh's dreams and been put in charge of preparing for the seven years of famine. Joseph had married Asenath, whose father was a priest in On (also called Heliopolis), an important religious center in ancient Egypt. These two sons would later become the heads of two of Israel's twelve tribes.
