This verse comes after Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams about seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine, and then proposed a detailed plan to store grain during the good years. Joseph had been brought from prison to interpret these troubling dreams that none of Pharaoh's magicians could explain. The positive reaction from Pharaoh and his court would lead directly to Joseph being appointed as second-in-command over all of Egypt.
