This verse is part of an inventory of temple treasures that King Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem when he conquered it in 586 BC. After seventy years in exile, the Persian King Cyrus allowed the Jewish exiles to return and gave back these sacred items for use in rebuilding the temple. These vessels were precious both for their material value and their religious significance in temple worship.
