✦ SIMPLIFICADO

This instruction came as the Israelites were traveling toward the Promised Land after their 40 years in the wilderness. The Ammonites were descendants of Lot (Abraham's nephew) through his younger daughter, making them distant relatives of the Israelites. God had allocated specific territories to different peoples, and the Israelites were to respect these divine boundaries even as they conquered other lands.
