This occurs during Absalom's rebellion against his father King David. Absalom had just received military advice from Ahithophel, his trusted counselor, but decided to also consult Hushai the Archite. Unknown to Absalom, Hushai was actually loyal to David and had been sent to infiltrate Absalom's court to counteract Ahithophel's wise counsel.
