In the biblical narrative, the prophet Elisha was helping the king of Israel by revealing and thwarting the secret plans of the Aramean army, which had been raiding Israelite territory. When the Arameans sent a band of soldiers to capture Elisha at Dothan, he prayed, and God miraculously blinded them to protect him. Elisha then deceived the blinded soldiers by offering to lead them to their target, but instead guided them straight to Samaria, the capital of Israel.
