Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
In the historical context of 2 Kings 20, King Hezekiah of Judah had just recovered from a life-threatening illness through God's miraculous intervention, as foretold by the prophet Isaiah. When envoys from Babylon arrived bearing gifts and seeking alliance, Hezekiah imprudently displayed all the treasures of his palace and those stored by his ancestors, revealing Judah's wealth to a potential enemy. This led God, through Isaiah, to prophesy the future Babylonian conquest, where all these riches would be taken away, as a warning of the impending exile around the 6th century BC.
