And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

This verse is set during the reign of King Solomon, after he had built and dedicated the First Temple in Jerusalem as a central place for Israel's worship. In the preceding chapters, Solomon led a grand dedication ceremony and prayed for God to inhabit the Temple and hear the people's prayers there. God responded directly to Solomon in this night vision to affirm His acceptance of the Temple as a sacred site for sacrifices and divine encounters.
