This refers to King Hezekiah of Judah, who began his reign around 715 BC after his wicked father Ahaz had closed the temple and led the nation into idolatry. The temple doors had been shut and worship of God had been abandoned, leaving the nation spiritually devastated. Hezekiah's first act as king was to restore proper worship by reopening the temple that had been neglected and damaged.
