King Jehoram of Judah ascended to the throne at age 32 and ruled for eight years during a period of spiritual and moral decline in the divided kingdom of Israel and Judah. His reign was filled with wickedness, including idolatry influenced by his marriage to a daughter of Israel's King Ahab, which led to divine judgment through invasions and his own painful illness. As a result, he died without the people's respect, and his burial in the City of David but not in the royal tombs reflected the disgrace he brought upon himself and his legacy.
