This prophecy came through the prophetess Huldah when King Josiah discovered the Book of the Law (likely Deuteronomy) during temple repairs around 621 BC. The book contained blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience that God had established with Israel. Despite Josiah's reforms, generations of idolatry and unfaithfulness had already sealed Judah's fate for exile.
