Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

This is God's response to Solomon's request for wisdom to govern Israel well, rather than asking for personal gain. Solomon had just become king after his father David's death and was offering sacrifices at the high place in Gibeon. God was so pleased with Solomon's humble request for wisdom that He promised to give him not only what he asked for, but also unprecedented wealth and honor.
