This is part of Solomon's dedication prayer for the newly completed temple in Jerusalem around 960 BC. Solomon is asking God to make this temple a place where prayers would be heard and answered. The temple was designed to be the central place of worship for all Israel, replacing the portable tabernacle they had used during their wilderness wanderings.
