And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

This follows the tragic story of a young prophet from Judah who was sent by God to confront King Jeroboam but was strictly told not to eat or drink anything in Israel. An older prophet deceived him into disobeying this command by claiming God had changed His mind. When the young prophet was killed by a lion on his way home, the older prophet understood this was divine judgment for disobedience.
