Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
In the biblical story, King Ahab of Israel had wrongfully desired Naboth's vineyard and, with his wife Jezebel's scheming, arranged for Naboth to be killed so Ahab could take it. When the prophet Elijah delivered God's judgment against Ahab for this grave sin, Ahab responded by repenting and humbling himself before God. As a result, God chose to delay the punishment for Ahab's wickedness until after his lifetime, demonstrating divine mercy toward genuine remorse.
