This event occurred around 925 BC, shortly after Solomon's death and the division of Israel into northern and southern kingdoms. Rehoboam ruled the southern kingdom of Judah, and his harsh policies had already caused ten tribes to break away. Shishak (also known as Shoshenq I) was an Egyptian pharaoh who took advantage of Israel's weakened, divided state to launch this invasion.
