And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
In the time of King David, the Ark of the Covenant had been kept in Kirjathjearim for many years after it was returned by the Philistines, who had captured it during earlier conflicts. David, as the newly anointed king of Israel, sought to unite the nation and honor God by relocating the Ark to Jerusalem, which would become the central place of worship. This event highlights the Ark's role as a symbol of God's covenant and presence among His people.
