In the time of King Ahab of Israel, who was known for his idolatry and wickedness, Obadiah was a faithful servant of God working in Ahab's palace. When the prophet Elijah appeared and asked Obadiah to tell Ahab about his whereabouts, Obadiah feared that Ahab would kill him for aiding Elijah, as Ahab was desperately seeking to eliminate the prophet.
