And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

In the divided kingdom of Israel after Solomon's death, Jeroboam became the first king of the northern tribes and led the people into idolatry, which provoked God's judgment. Through the prophet Ahijah, God had foretold that Jeroboam's entire family line would be wiped out as punishment for his sins. This verse records Baasha, a usurping king, fulfilling that prophecy by exterminating all of Jeroboam's descendants.
