⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

God is telling Moses that the Israelites have already broken their promise to Him by making and worshipping a golden idol while Moses was receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.

📚 Historical Context

This verse refers to the golden calf incident that occurred while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments from God. The Israelites, growing impatient during Moses' 40-day absence, convinced Aaron to help them create a golden calf to worship. This happened just weeks after they had witnessed God's power in their escape from Egypt and had promised to obey His commands.
