Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Don't marry them or let your children marry their children. Don't give your daughter to marry one of their sons, and don't let your son marry one of their daughters.
God is telling the Israelites not to intermarry with the pagan nations around them to protect their faith and devotion to Him.
📚 Historical Context
This command was given to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land, which was inhabited by various pagan nations who worshipped idols and practiced immoral rituals. God knew that intermarriage would lead to spiritual compromise, as foreign spouses would likely influence the Israelites to abandon their faith and adopt pagan practices. This was specifically about preserving the covenant relationship between God and His chosen people, not about racial prejudice.
