Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
Therefore, if you listen to these laws and carefully obey them, the LORD your God will keep His covenant with you and show you the faithful love He promised to your ancestors.
God is promising that if His people obey His commands, He will remain faithful to the covenant and show them the same loyal love He promised their forefathers.
📚 Historical Context
Moses is speaking to the Israelites just before they enter the Promised Land, reminding them of God's covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This comes after 40 years in the wilderness and represents a renewal of their commitment to follow God's laws as they prepare to settle in Canaan. The 'judgments' refer to the specific laws and commands God gave them to govern their new life in the land.
