And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,
You should do what is right and good in the LORD's eyes, so that things will go well for you and you can enter and take possession of the good land that the LORD promised to your ancestors.
God is telling His people to live righteously because it leads to blessing and helps them receive what He has promised them.
📚 Historical Context
Moses was speaking to the Israelites just before they entered the Promised Land after 40 years in the wilderness. This was part of his final instructions to the new generation about how to live faithfully in the land God had sworn to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The emphasis on doing what is 'right and good' connected their moral behavior to their ability to successfully settle and thrive in Canaan.
