Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
From heaven he let you hear his voice so he could teach you, and on earth he showed you his great fire. You heard his words coming from the middle of the fire.
God is reminding the Israelites that he spoke to them directly from heaven and through fire to teach them his ways.
📚 Historical Context
Moses is speaking to the Israelites about their experience at Mount Sinai, where God gave them the Ten Commandments. When God descended on the mountain, it was covered with fire, smoke, and thunder, and the people heard God's voice speaking to them from the fire. This was a unique moment in history when God directly communicated his laws to an entire nation.
