Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
So be very careful and pay close attention to yourselves, because when the LORD spoke to you at Mount Horeb from the middle of the fire, you didn't see any kind of form or shape.
Moses is warning the people to remember that when God spoke to them at Mount Sinai, they heard His voice but saw no physical form - so they shouldn't try to make images of Him.
📚 Historical Context
Moses is speaking to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land, reminding them of their experience at Mount Sinai (also called Horeb) where God gave them the Ten Commandments. At that momentous occasion, the people heard God's voice speaking from fire and smoke, but crucially, they saw no physical form or image of God. This was foundational to understanding that God is spirit and cannot be contained in any physical representation.
