📚 Historical Context
In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses is retelling the story of the Israelites' journey from Egypt to the edge of the Promised Land, emphasizing God's faithfulness despite the people's unfaithfulness. After the spies returned with a report of giants in Canaan, the Israelites rebelled in fear and refused to trust God, leading to His judgment. As a result, God decreed that this unbelieving generation would not enter the land He swore to give their ancestors.
