📚 Historical Context
In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were wrongfully arrested and beaten in Philippi after they cast out a spirit from a slave girl, which angered her owners and led to their imprisonment. An earthquake miraculously opened the prison doors, resulting in the jailer's conversion and the officials realizing they had violated Roman law by punishing Roman citizens without a trial. The next day, the magistrates came to apologize and personally escorted Paul and Silas out of the city, asking them to leave to restore order and avoid further conflict.
