For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
When he had been king for eight years, while he was still young, he began to earnestly seek the God of his ancestor David. Four years later, in his twelfth year as king, he started to clean out Judah and Jerusalem by removing the pagan worship sites, sacred poles, carved idols, and metal statues.
