✦ MADE SIMPLE

The men who had been chosen by name stood up and took care of the prisoners. They used the captured goods to clothe everyone who was naked, gave them shoes, provided food and drink, and treated their wounds with oil. They put all the weak ones on donkeys and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to be with their fellow Israelites. Then they returned to Samaria.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

These men showed extraordinary compassion by caring for their former enemies, clothing them, feeding them, and safely returning them to their families.

📚 Historical Context

This event occurred during the reign of King Ahaz of Judah, when the northern kingdom of Israel had defeated Judah in battle and taken many captives. A prophet named Oded had convinced the Israelites that taking their fellow Israelites as slaves was wrong, leading to this remarkable act of mercy and restoration.
