And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
And he said, 'Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, and you King Jehoshaphat: This is what the LORD says to you: Don't be afraid or discouraged because of this huge army coming against you. This battle doesn't belong to you, it belongs to God.'
God is telling His people not to fear their enemies because He will fight their battles for them.
📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Jehoshaphat in Judah, a massive coalition of enemy armies from neighboring nations was marching to attack, threatening the survival of the kingdom. Jehoshaphat responded by calling the people to fast and pray, seeking God's intervention in their desperate situation. Through the prophet Jahaziel, God delivered this message to reassure them that they didn't need to fear, as the upcoming battle was ultimately His to win.
