✦ MADE SIMPLE

As soon as you enter the city, you'll find him right away, before he goes up to the high place to eat. The people won't eat until he arrives because he blesses the sacrifice first, and then those who are invited can eat. So go up now, because you'll find him around this time.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

The writer is explaining that Samuel will be easy to find because he has to bless the sacrifice before the community meal can begin.

📚 Historical Context

In the biblical narrative, 1 Samuel 9 describes the events leading up to Saul being chosen as the first king of Israel, as he searches for his father's lost donkeys and encounters the prophet Samuel. At this time, sacrificial meals were common in Israelite culture, where leaders like Samuel would bless the offering before the community ate, reflecting the deep integration of religious rituals into everyday life. This highlights the societal structure under the judges, where prophets held significant spiritual authority.
