And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
So Samuel told Eli everything completely, holding nothing back. And Eli said, 'It is the LORD speaking: let him do whatever he thinks is right.'
Samuel honestly shared God's harsh message with Eli, and Eli humbly accepted God's judgment, trusting that whatever God does is right.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical narrative of 1 Samuel, Samuel was a young boy serving as an apprentice to the priest Eli in the tabernacle at Shiloh, where God was revealing Himself through dreams and visions. God called Samuel in the night to prophesy judgment on Eli's family because of the wickedness and corruption of Eli's sons, who were abusing their roles as priests. When Samuel faithfully relayed this message to Eli, the old priest responded with humble acceptance, recognizing God's authority over all events.
