📚 Historical Context

This verse comes after Solomon had turned away from God by worshiping foreign gods, influenced by his many foreign wives. Despite being blessed with wisdom and prosperity, Solomon allowed idolatry into Israel and built high places for pagan worship. God had specifically warned him against this, but Solomon's heart had been led astray in his old age.
